In our current society, there are many different ways to view God. Some see Him as The Supreme Being, which He is. While others see Him as someone holding a lightning bolt in His hand just waiting for us to do something stupid and as soon as we do…BAMM!! Lighting Bolt!! However, if God really did that, everyone would be getting hit by lightning bolts several times a day. Some people stress the rules and regulations that God has for us and that we need to become “worthy” of Him by changing our actions, acting like “better” people, and doing better things. Despite all of that, one of the most important things you need to do is “Allow God to Love You Just the Way You Are!”
The Shepard Looks for You
A certain parable says, “What man of you, if he has a hundred sheep and should lose one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness (desert) and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his [own] shoulders, rejoicing. And when he gets home, he summons together [his] friends and [his] neighbors, saying to them,
Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep which was lost. Thus, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one [especially] wicked person who repents (changes his mind, abhorring his errors and misdeeds, and determines to enter upon a better course of life) than over ninety-nine righteous persons who have no need of repentance.” Luke 15:4-7 AMP
The story illustrates how much The Shepherd longs to find His sheep, not how much “work” the sheep needs to do to become worthy of being found by the Shepherd. The parable says that the shepherd “finds”, “lays it (the sheep) on his own shoulders”, “rejoices” and “goes home”. What does the sheep do? The sheep “is found”, “is carried”, “is rejoiced over”, “allows itself to be carried by the shepherd” and “taken home”. The sheep didn’t do anything other than accept the Shepherds care. In the same way, God, Your Heavenly Shepherd is not waiting for you to get right to be found. He just needs you to let Him love and carry you, just the way you are.
Are you perfect? No. None of us are. We all can become better but it’s a process. And it can start by accepting His unconditional love for you today not by trying to earn or deserve to be loved.
Sick People Need Doctors
If you’re sick, you will most likely remain that way until you go see the doctor. You wouldn’t sit at home waiting to feel better before going to the doctor. In the same way, God wants you to come to Him sick, broken, messed up, messed over, confused and in need. There are a lot of people who follow “Christ” that still have major issues after years of having been carried by the Shepherd. Why? Because our actions don’t change God’s love for us no matter what we do. The price for our actions was paid for by His son Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross. If God made us pay for our actions every time, what His son Jesus did was not good enough. What we all need is a sincere desire to know God and to do better in life.
You are loved the way you are right now. So just let God love you today. It’s not about what you know, where you’ve been or what you’ve done. It’s about letting God love you where you are and how you are today. It’s important to first come to the doctor, so he can help you become well. Once you let Him into your life, He then has the right to make you into something better.
Let Him Love You
If you want to let His love into your heart today, you don’t need a church, preacher or anyone else to allow God to love you. In your own way, simply ask Him. “Help me to see and receive Your love for me.” And if you ask and truly mean it, we believe that you’ll begin to see how much, “He loves you, just the way you are.”
What do you think? Do you feel loved by God?
